Homebrewer Day at Kansas Hop Co.

I’d like to invite you and your homebrew club members to the 2nd Annual Homebrewer Day at Kansas Hop Company. This is an opportunity to brew on site in our hop yard with wet hops freshly picked the same day.
- There is a $10 cash fee for all participating brewers. That will include a pound of freshly picked wet hops (likely our Kansas Chinook/Kanook variety that has grapefruit, pineapple, and melon notes) and 4oz. of Columbus pellets that you can use for a bittering charge. The brewers that participated last year all made 5 gallon batches. Wet hops lose a lot of their amazing aromas in an extended boil so I’d recommend using them at flameout, during whirlpool, etc…You are welcome to bring additional supplemental hops from home if you’d like to incorporate them into your recipe.
- For those that just want to come down to the hop farm and hang out, but not brew, there is no fee.
- If you are planning to brew on site you’ll need to bring your brewing rig, a canopy if you want some shade, a chair if you’d like to sit, the water you’ll be brewing with, a mesh bag/strainer for the wet hops if you want to keep things clean, a sack lunch, and some beverages to enjoy while brewing. Last year the brewers cooled their batches down with a chiller using our garden hose so you’ll need to bring your own if you’d like to lower your temps before heading home.
- Please RSVP with the number of folks that plan on brewing by Monday August 19th.
- Plan to start brewing around 10am. We should have the hops picked and sorted by then. You can arrive anytime after 9am to begin setting up your rig.
