The LBG took a bus trip on Aug. 23 to the Great Nebraska Beer Fest in Papillion. The trip included stops at Nebraska Brewing Co., Farnam House Brewing Co. and the festival at Werner Park. Ten members donated kegs and poured beer at the guild’s booth.
The LBG met Aug. 14 for its monthly meeting. A swap meet of brewing-related items took place before the meeting. Member Chris Stenger led the tasting on brown ales. Member Frank Dillon led a seminar on kegging.
Several LBG members attended Great Taste of the Midwest on Aug. 9 in Madison, Wis. The festival is the second longest-running craft beer festival in North America, featuring more than 150 breweries and nearly 1,000 beers.
Several LBG members attended Free State Brewing Co.’s open house of its production facility on July 19. The event celebrated Free State’s 25th anniversary downtown and the fifth anniversary of the production facility in east Lawrence.
Many LBG members attended the 10th annual Mugs for Juggs, hosted by Kim and Andy Booth, near Lawrence on July 12. The event featured numerous beers, food, entertainment and “Nicki,” a pink retired Lawrence Fire Department truck that travels to various locations to spread awareness of all types of cancer in women.
