Re: August 2013 Tasting: Imperial IPA
Figures, I haven't been to a guild meeting in over a year, and the IIPA tasting would be a great reason to go, but we are leaving for Great Taste on Thursday!

Re: Praxair/CO2 questions
Hi Kevin, I can't answer the first two questions, but a phone call to that shop should answer them pretty quickly. As for the third question, I have three CO2 tanks. Two 5 lb and a 20lb. I would suggest you have two tanks as there is nothing worse than running out of CO2. The sizes are up to you, bu...

Re: Desert Island Question
Well, I prefer a neutral yeast for a clean ferment at cooler temps, so 1056, WLP001 or Safale 04, I'm also a fan of the citrus hops, so I guess Amarillo, since they a good all around hop.

Re: Advice on my investment.
Rumor has it that some stores will take any keg back for deposit. I have always understood that it needs to be from the same company, ie. Coors keg (Which these are) for Coors Keg not Coors for Anheuser Busch. I was in the bar business for over 10 years and I don't recall seeing a Coors keg shaped ...

Re: Advice on my investment.
You don't need a straight side. Volume is volume. As long as your sight tube is marked for each gallon (or 1/2 gallon), it's fine. Just extend the site tube beyond the sides and you are good to go.

Re: 3 CO2 Tanks
The guy at praxair told me he couldn't swap because it was a coke tank. He said they do so much business with coke that company policy is no swapping coke tanks, similar to kegs, they need to be returned to the company. He was actually the one who recommended linweld, again your mileage may vary. T...

Re: 3 CO2 Tanks
There is a linweld drop at Napa autoparts on Iowa in Lawrence, they took my out of test Coke tank no questions asked, praxair wouldn't touch it. YMMV The Praxair here in Topeka took a 20# tank from me that had been sitting in my mom's garage for at least 15 years, on a dirt floor. They guy looked a...

If you can't find the correct impeller, borrow the impeller from someone and compare it to the one you need to replace. They may be interchangeable, if you are lucky.

Looks pretty good. I still haven't put mine together yet. I think I have all of the bed frames needed to get it done.
How close do you have that to the wall? Are you concerned about the heat coming off of the burners and how that would affect the wall?
good project!

Re: Free Grape and Wine Workshop in Lawrence
Thanks for the post Frank. I plan on attending. We have grapes and elderberries that I'd like to use for wine. Elderberries are a cinch, just let them grow. Grapes on the other hand take more work, which I need to learn.
Looking forward to it.
