Blktre and I have once again been trying to make head way on the big rig. Here are some pics of the HLT electric element portion that some of you have seen plans or parts.
Parts before work...
Parts have been machined and welded.

Pump has been purchased and the electronic control panel is built.
To the right of the pump will be a T and valves that will allow water to be in circulation or pumped to the mash tun. The right hand side of the picture shows the two 90's attached to each other but will be extended between so the return is at the top of the kettle. Nothing about this rig will be off shelf and that's why it's taking a long time to build it...Well that and lack of funds
Cheers!

1. When a once extraordinarily hoppy beer now seems pedestrian.
2. The phenomenon a person has when craving more bitterness in beer.
3. The long-term exposure to extremely hoppy beers; if excessive or prolonged, a habitual dependence on hops will occur.
4. When a "Double IPA" just is not enough

The HLT is 80+ gallons. Heating that amount of water in a timely manner poses problems. So the solution is to run a dual HLT. This means a propane burner (big one) and two 240v heating elements. The plumbing Jarrell posted allows water to be recirc. thru the elements and back into the HLT. The bronze pump does that at the same time using the burner. There will also be plumbing and valving using the same bronze pump to move heated water to the MT to strike in and sparge with...Thoughts.......Glenn wrote:Ok, n00b question here - where is the "electric" part of the pictured setup?
