Qbfrew software is free. Simple program to help you with your all grain recipes.
SUDS ? A Recipe tool that maintains recipes and show all styles. Outdated, hasn?t been updated in years.
For calculators, check out tastybrew.com, Sean did a quick walk through.
Spoke about the non-shareware applications and told the advantages of the cost software. The two 'standards' being used are Pro Mash and BeerSmith
Pro Mash- did a quick walk-trough of the app. No disadvantages other than it is ugly and hasn't been updated for a while. Does have a trail version that you can use to evaluate the application.
BeerSmith- did a quick wal-through of the app. No real disavantages other that it isn't a 'session style' application. You can't change a recipe for a single session without having to create a new recipe. The look is more of a Windows Explorer view application. (Added by Sean: You can do a brew log and it will track brew sessions for you.)
Some questions about water reports came up. Call you water department and they will send you one. You can add your specific water report into these applications and they also hold the water profiles of the origins of your specific recipe.

lupulin threshold shift \lu·pu·lin thresh·old shift\ n
1. When a once extraordinarily hoppy beer now seems pedestrian.
2. The phenomenon a person has when craving more bitterness in beer.
3. The long-term exposure to extremely hoppy beers; if excessive or prolonged, a habitual dependence on hops will occur.
4. When a "Double IPA" just is not enough
