The vinegar is good for the stainless steel. Also, warm vinegar will easily remove the stuff on the bottle of the kettle after a brew or many brews.

If you got the steel rinsed out good from the pad, I doubt that you will ever see any reaction, generally takes a while with iron and stainless contact.
