The Bourbon Crusade

After visiting Buffalo Trace distillery last week I feel like such an amature Their fermentation tanks were 92,000 gallons! You should have seen the yeast bubbling on top of the batches 20 feet across---bubbling wild like a witches cauldron. And they had a dozen or more tanks in one room.
I brew it 5 gallons at a time. They've got over a half million gallons going each week.
We were fortunate to recieve a hard hat tour of the facility and were permited to sample their white dog straight from atop the 3 story beer still.
The highlight of the trip was sampling 20 barrels for a barrel purchase my bourbon web-site is involved with. We wound up choosing 7 barrels which will be available this fall in Massachusettes from Julio's Liquors.
