refractometer

okay, I'm going to get a refractometer and I've been checking out the ones from Hong Kong and others that are 'local' from the US. They are all 0-32% Brix and aluminum bodies. None list the manufacturer, including sites like Northern Brewer or Home Brew Adventures. I'm not willing to pay the insane $100 plus amount that places like Cole-Parmer are asking so I'm looking for some user acceptance testing, so to speak.
What is the general consensus of getting one of the aluminum bodied refractometers that come in from Hong Kong?
Is there really a difference between the one that GreatDel (yes, that's 'Great Deal' that is missing the 'A' from here in the US) is selling on eBay vs the one that from a company 8,000 miles away in Hong Kong is selling?

Input? anyone? Bueller, Bueller?
