American Alt

In another BB post (not here) there was a discussion about yeast for a German Alt. Generally I use WLP036 or Wyeast 1007 for my Alt Biers.
But the discussion got me thinking about using the PacMan yeast Wyeast 1764 for an American Alt. This yeast has been a proven winner for me getting a beer dry enough with a ADF of 80 to 82 percent.
Where this is leading is that I felt my Duss Alt keg and it is almost gone. Normally, there is a keg in waiting but I let it slip and now I am stuck for a replacement. Other beers are available but not an Alt.
Has anyone used WLP001 - WY1056 or WY1764 for an American Alt? This will produce a clean neutral flavor but will finish quickly without waiting for the dusty Alt yeast to settle.
