Maifest Maibocks...

So who hasn't started their maibock for Maifest?

I'd love to brew one, but my rig isn't finished yet. BUT, I just got another paycheck, so you know I'm blowing more money on it STAT. :)

Anybody wanna go halfsies on a 10gal batch? If we pitch big, it might not be too green. I'm not a huge fan of the style, but I'd love to have one to bring to the 'fest.

I can't help ya with splitting a batch, but I've already got 10 gallons on the yeast. I brewed it on March 1st and I will be bringing it to Maifest. This is my first lager, so we'll see how it turns out.

I pieced the recipe together by doing some web searches, checking my issues of BYO and Zymurgy and by listening to the Jamil show.

I did a 90 minute boil and I missed my OG by 5 points ( I was low). I'm kind of disappointed wit that as I've been nailing my OGs by only 3 or less points for my last 7 brews.

Its still out in the garage stinking it up with it's lager yeast goodness.

Yeah, I've pretty much come to the conclusion that my last-ditch effort was just a bit too late for this year. Fortunately, there's plenty of good maibocks being made by local breweries, and way to go Bill on getting yours rolling. Look forward to trying some at Maifest.

Your designs are always awesome Barry. If you are willing to take the time, I'm all for it.

Anyone second this?
