Looking for 5 gal ball lock kegs & a 6.5 gal glasscarboy

We are looking for one or two 5 gallon, ball lock kegs and maybe one or two 6.5 gallon glass carboys.

Surely someone wants to convert a keg or two into some spending cash to help out some "new to kegging" fellow brewers.

Difficult finding someone wanting to part with these for less than retail value. You kind of trip on them at garage sales, etc.

The Merc has a good price on Better Bottles and glass carboys. Otherwise northernbrewer.com is good as well.

Glass ones are 3 and 5 gal at the merc.

Thanks! Anyone know of a way to get a 6.5 gallon glass carboy w/o paying shipping? If not, that is fine. . . . just wanted to exhaust all sources before I pay shipping on that.

Surely B&B or the Homebrew Pro shoppe have some. Is driving to KC an option? I bet one of our KC members could pick one up and bring it to the meeting.

I appreciate the offer, Jason . . . and I might take you up on it sometime. Still looking around and trying to weigh the benefits and disadvantages of the 14 gallon vs 6.5 gallon before we shell out cash for one or the other.

On one hand, you can lift a 6.5 way easier than a 14. . . . on the other hand one 14 might fit easier in a fermentorfridge than two 6.5. . . . . will have to do some thinking on this.

Anyone know if the carboy carriers that they sell would fit around the 14 gallon carboy?

It is a 15 gal, my bad. It comes with its own "bucket" / carrier with a shroud



Is a bit to manhandle, but great when doing 12 gal batches (can't fit 15 gal in, or at least I have not been able to do it). I use my for the long lagering of my Oktoberfest. You almost have to have a keg washer to clean this bad boy.

I highly recommend staying away from the 14g Demijohns/carboys. When they are full you cannot move them safely or move them across the floor. The slightest little ding and that sucker is history. I'm speaking from experience, i lost 2 full ones and lucky i didn't bleed out.

I have one of those beasts, that has 12 gallons of sour in it, and it is a scary proposition every time I have to deal with it.

It is always a zen state of mind when dealing with any size glass carboy-- Think about the movement about to happen... are hands and forearms dry, has the glass been wiped down with a towel if there is any moisture at all on the outside... think the movement through every time before you pick up the Glass.

The Beast is a 2 person lift.

A 5 or 6.5 gal will fit perfectly in a milk create. Added a couple of handle and it makes it so much easer to move the carboys around and provides protection of the carboy as well.
