Ballast Point Comes to Kansas
Many LBG members attended Ballast Point Brewing launch events in October around Lawrence. Crown Distributors, Ted’s Taphouse, The Burger Stand at the Casbah and Merchants Pub & Plate hosted launch events to welcome the San Diego brewery to Kansas.
Free State Wort Giveaway
Several LBG members took part in Free State Brewing Co.’s wort giveaway on Oct. 9. The wort was second-runnings from the brewery’s Old Backus Barleywine.
October Meeting
The LBG met Oct. 8 for its monthly meeting. Steve Holle, with KC Bier Co., gave a presentation about German brewing techniques. Member Bob Dieterle led the tasting on Oktoberfest beers.
Dwight Burnham Memorial Brewfest XX
The LBG hosted the 20th annual Dwight Burnham Memorial Brewfest on Sept. 26 at Clinton Lake. The day included music, barbecue by KB Smokehouse and more than 90 beers on tap. “Foster’s Entire Butt,” a Dwight Burnham recipe brewed during a guild social brew day, was on tap throughout the day.
